mxconsole is a console for Sun workstations. it is written from the disgust using Sun's cmdtool. Don't ask me why, I just never liked OpenLook based software. The software is written in C and interfaces to X, Motif and Xpm libraries. I am using it with SunOS 4.1.4 for quite a while now. It works on Solaris 2.x as well. Now a days I use Linux and other Unices remotely, so I don't feel need of it anymore.

If the console is iconified and something is written to the console, the icon changes. If the console is de-iconified and iconified again, icon color will go back to default.

To compile:

    xmkmf -a
    make

You've to tweak platform specific things yourself.. sorry. I don't use this software anymore. Now a days I use kde on Linux for my desktop.
